We’re a university of technology in more than just our name: we see tech as a tool to drive transformational learning. Engage with the tools that are shaping your profession and study in digital learning environments that have tech at their core. You’ll emerge ready to thrive in an increasingly digital world, no matter which profession you pursue.

To be offered a place in a course you must meet the course entrance requirements and be selected in competition with other eligible applicants. To be eligible for admission to an undergraduate course at UTS you must satisfy at least one of the minimum admission criteria (matriculation) listed in the categories below and be selected for admission in competition with other applicants:
You must have an Australian Year 12 qualification with a minimum ATAR of 69.00 (or equivalent) for consideration to enter in the next intake (exclusive of any adjustment factors). This includes studies accumulated over consecutive years with the approval of the appropriate state education board.
Recent school leavers are selected on the basis of selection rank, which involves a combination of your ATAR (or International Baccalaureate (IB) score) and any relevant adjustment factors. Your selection rank will determine your eligibility for entry into our undergraduate courses.
If you have completed, or are attempting to complete, the IB Diploma overseas, you may have to provide proof of English language proficiency.
If you’re applying to UTS on the basis of your ATAR, there are several adjustment factors that can be taken into consideration in your application. These factors, which are recognised through the following admissions schemes, can increase your selection rank. UTS then considers your application to study a course based on your selection rank (your ATAR plus adjustment factors).
The inpUTS educational access scheme could help you gain access to your preferred course at UTS. If your education has been disrupted for longer than six months you may be eligible for ten adjustment points on any UTS course. inpUTS is open to domestic applicants from both school and non-school pathways, and considers a range of circumstances including family, personal and financial circumstances. If you are a current Year 12 student attending an EAS-identified school (S01Cor S01R), you will be considered for inpUTS automatically. In addition, all applicants whose address is indexed in the lowest SEIFA quartile will also be considered for inpUTS automatically.
To be eligible you must achieve a minimum ATAR of 69.00 or equivalent (not including adjustments), and apply to UAC by the designated closing dates. If successful, you will be supported through a range of UTS programs, including financial, personal and academic programs.
The Elite Athletes and Performers Special Admissions Scheme considers the impact of international/national level competition and performance commitments on recent academic performance and adds five adjustment points to the selection ranks of approved applicants. To be considered under the Elite Athletes and Performers scheme, you must achieve a minimum ATAR of 69.00 (not including adjustment factors).
If you’re completing Year 12 studies in 2020, you may be eligible for the UTS Year 12 Subject Scheme, which applies to 2020 NSW HSC, interstate Year 12 and International Baccalaureate applicants.
For a select number of courses, UTS will award points to applicants undertaking the 2020 NSW HSC based on performance in subjects relevant to their course preferences. Applicants must achieve a minimum ATAR of 69.00 or equivalent before points are applied.
You may be required to meet course specific additional criteria, such as an interview or test. Details on what additional criteria may apply can be found under the individual UTS course descriptions. If compulsory additional course application requirements are not submitted by the relevant closing dates, your application may not be considered for that course.
There are no HSC subject prerequisites for any UTS course, with the exception of teacher education courses. Each faculty identifies assumed knowledge and/or recommended studies, which you are advised to have achieved before you begin the course. Refer to the individual course descriptions for details on the assumed knowledge and/or recommended studies for each course.
UTS offers a range of bridging courses for students who don’t meet the assumed knowledge requirements for their preferred course. Most of these courses are offered in late January/early February, between enrolment and the start of session. Bridging courses in physics, chemistry and mathematics are available to all new students undertaking degree studies.
For UTS Engineering and IT courses (with the exception of the Bachelor of Information Technology), students have the option to complete an online questionnaire. The Year 12 Engineering and IT questionnaire may be taken into account in conjunction with your ATAR or equivalent.
If you have obtained a business-related cadetship demonstrated through an official letter, you may receive an offer to study the following courses at UTS:

Secure your place at UTS before your final Year 12 exams. The UTS Early Entry Program is designed to recognise your academic achievements from Year 11 and is open to all local and onshore international Year 12 students.
Offers will be based on Year 11 results and will include the requirement to complete your 2021 HSC/IB. Law courses will require an ATAR of at least 80.00. Education courses will require an ATAR of at least 70.00.
Interested in Engineering or IT courses at UTS? The Edge program is based on broader criteria than the ATAR alone. Students are assessed on Year 11 results plus Edge points, which are composed of the Edge Portfolio, Year 11 grades in relevant STEM subjects and the Women in Engineering and IT initiative.
The Edge program is open to all local and onshore international Year 12 students. Applications open on 10 May with provisional offers released on 30 September. Offers will be based on Year 11 results and will include the requirement to complete your 2022 HSC/IB.

Students can choose from business, communication, design and architecture, engineering, information technology or science diplomas.
Domestic students graduating from a UTS College diploma are guaranteed a place in the corresponding undergraduate degree at UTS, provided they achieve a pre-specified grade point average in their UTS College diploma and meet the eligibility criteria.
UTS accepts the NSW Limited ATAR for admission purposes to select courses.
UTS recognises the following qualifications and studies as satisfying minimum admission criteria for undergraduate studies:
UTS recognises the following qualifications and studies as satisfying minimum admission criteria for undergraduate studies:
If you have completed a TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC), you will be considered for admission on the basis of your Tertiary Entrance Score. If you have completed a TAFE diploma or advanced diploma, you will be considered for admission on the basis of the grades achieved in your advanced diploma or diploma.
If you are 20 years of age or older on 1 March 2022 and do not otherwise qualify for entry to UTS, you may apply for admission on the basis of the STAT (Multiple Choice) administered by ACER. The STAT (Multiple Choice) is accepted by all UTS faculties except Law, and your STAT results must have been obtained within three years prior to the year of admission.
Your STAT results aren’t considered for entry when applying for the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Information Technology, accelerated nursing, teacher education or for any of the Bachelor of Laws courses.
If you’re interested in studying a Design or Architecture course at UTS, you can submit a portfolio for consideration by the faculty. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.

If you’re female and have applied for selected engineering, information technology or construction project management courses, you’re eligible to receive 10 adjustment points.
UTS will consider equivalent overseas qualifications for admissions purposes. If you are unsure about the Australian equivalent of your overseas qualifications, consider using the UAC Qualifications Assessment Service for assessment of your overseas qualifications before applying.
If you have secondary or tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. No application for admission will be considered until English language proficiency has been demonstrated.

Successful applicants can accept an offer and enrol at the time that they receive their UAC offer.
If you receive a UTS offer of enrolment and you have completed appropriate subjects in an approved course at a recognised tertiary institution, you may apply for credit for relevant subjects in your chosen UTS course. UTS does not determine credit until an offer of enrolment is accepted.
If you are a domestic student and you receive an offer to study an undergraduate course which commences in the Autumn session (the beginning of the year), you may be able to defer commencement of your course for 12 months under the following conditions:
